Another eventful day of training... which involves trouble making and public safety XD;

OA Training Day 3 )

Read this morning about John Barrowman's new CD. I'm pretty excited. I think he could sing ingredients off a box and he would find a way to make it enjoyable. I'm hoping it will be up on itunes the day-of, but I might end up just ordering it off amazon. We'll see my financial situation in that month.

SPEAKING OF, Citi/RIT is made of super fail. They didn't approve all the loan money I asked for, so I have no extra money for books. I might even be shy a little bit on my tuition. Wonderful. I requested $13,000 and I got $10,409. Thanks for giving me that $5000 grant only to skimp me on my loan to pay for the rest of it.

Now it's time to get Ziggy Stardust settled and get some sleep. First years arrive in 4 days!

Orientation Day 2
I am so exhausted. It's not even OA training, it's trying to move in! I seriously just spent 4 hours assembling Bookcase-of-Fail[I'm printing a sign with that and sticking it on it]. But more on that later...

Training Day 2! )
Then it was time to tackle bookcase-of-fail. I didn't know it would be a failcase until I got to the last step and the stupid weird screw thingies they gave me wouldn't go in. Cue 2 hours of trying everything and killing the crap out of the bookcase. I had enough, so I took the screw out and went to walmart. I ended up buying two L brackets to make up for lack-of-screw. Of course it still wasn't co-operating since the L brackets weren't meant to be there, so cue more cursing and smashing-the-wood-with-the-hammer. It also didn't come with the 50 nails it was supposed to, so I had to pick those up too. I think it's good and sturdy now. Maybe? If you read about a college kid dying from her bookcase falling on her, it's probably me.

Now I need to go to bed before I die. OA training at 8:30 tomorrow! Bowling in the evening! And laundry with Jamie! I hope he doesn't mind the mess that is my room...

Moving in, Orientation Training Day 1
Quick update because I spent 7 hours moving and have a massive headache-

Started at 10... got my keys from housing, spent an hour trying to get the bed situated. It was jammed, so I just set aside the jammed piece and assembled the bed using the other bits. Then made about 3 trips to the batcave and back loading stuff. Luckily Photohouse has a shopping cart, which made moving sooo much easier. My parents arrived, helped me move more stuff. My room is kind of an explosion of things, since I only had time to drop stuff, shower, and then run off to training.

Reported to OA training at 5pm- it was great seeing everyone. Petey and Alaina dropped out, so the only returners from my years in Orientation are Jamie, Mike, Terry and I; plus the leads Ryan, Holly, Forrest, Justin, Josh and Mike. Then there are 2 returners from my Freshman year, my OA Rich[who doesn't remember me :(] and Charles. phew. We had 27 OAs but it's been dropped down to 26, which means more freshman to wrangle. Yay. We're looking at ~2,500 incoming total.

The OA gear this year is epic though! Seriously the most comfortable bag I've ever had in my life. The strap has this bouncy gel thingy and it's heaven. The jackets are way nicer, with a fold up hood and a full-zip front. They brought back the blinky "got questions?" buttons, woohoo! And they gave us this really nifty fold-up frisbee. The OA shirts are back to normal polos, which rock harder than the crappy sports ones we got last year. And the binder continues to shrink in size, which is always a good thing. OH, and the water bottles! They're really funky, but spill-proof, w00t.

After staff circle and all that jazz, I went to Walmart with Jamie. Picked up energy drinks liek whoa and an epic bookshelf. Then I ran to the batcave to round up some more of my items, and borrow Jess's toolset. Only think left there is Ziggy Stardust[the fish!]. And I have to vacuum the room and pledge the desk, but that won't take too long.

Ok, time to crash, meeting at 8:15 tomorrow!

My brother's grad party went alright- I tried to avoid people because I had no clue who most of them were. And then they come up to me and always ask "how is school going?" and "when do you graduate?". Then I try to explain why I need to take a couple extra quarters because of co-op and they get confused and it's just drama. At least I had Stacie there to be silly with. We went on the swings, and I jumped when I was too high and ended up busting my ass. Skillz, I have them. Nicole and I also managed to attack my brother with cake. He spent the rest of the party with cake in his hair and on his clothes. mwahaha.

Left the 'Cuse around 5ish, got in around 6:30. We didn't end up partying, which is rather sad. But Jess P. and Court were over, and Court ended up punting a kiwi. Yes, we're random and crazy.

I will miss the Batcave. But Photohouse should be interesting this year. I hope XD;

I am also sad to see my Summer end. It's seriously been the best Summer in all of my 21 years- I've done so many exciting things[the highlight obviously being Toronto and all the epic shit that went down there]. I'll do a Summer wrap-up post eventually. Time to focus on Orientation and fall quarter!

I can pick up my keys at 10am, and then training starts at 5pm. :D

Thursday night I managed to pack up all my clothes and clear out 2 trash bags worth of crap around the room. Still haven't touched the bookshelf or the desk, but I can work on that Sunday night. I ended up gouging my foot with a piece of glass from when I dropped the picture frame a couple weeks ago :( Once I get all my crap out of there, I need to thoroughly vacuum.

yadda yadda )
Got my car inspected and oil changed today. The TARDIS passed, but will be needing new brake pads and rotors soon[the guy said before winter]. Pep Boys estimated $500, yikes. There goes my OA paycheck =/ Hopefully my sister's baby-daddy can hook me up. Did a fair bit of shopping with my mother for my brother's grad party tomorrow. Actually, I'm about to head up to my Grandma's now to help chop fruit. Woohoo. They better have the Olympics on, need to watch Michael Phelps!

PS Happy Birthday to Christine, I LOVE YOU LIEK WHOA <3

PPS ORIENTATION IN 2 DAYS. SO EXCITED.

It's over!

Woke up obnoxiously early to have a final meal with Denise and Monique. We had extra meals left on our meal cards that we already paid for, so it would have been a waste if we didn't use them. Gracie's Breakfast > Gracie's Lunch. Trufax.

The luncheon went well, I was so proud of the students giving their presentations. My eyes welled up a bit during a few of them. The students ended up giving $15 Barnes and Noble gift cards to Monique, Jessica and I :) And we had the students put some money in to give Denise some flowers and a group picture in a nice frame. Ended up wrapping things up early. The kids just kind of tore out of the place to get their computers without much of a goodbye :___: I got a couple hugs though. While they went over to 70 to get their computers and peace out, The staff tore down the Skalny room. It didn't take too long to clean up, and I was home by 2:40.

Some pictures~ )

Then I partook in a nice, long shower before heading back to RIT for work in VIA. I'm here til 8, then I need to run home for an online Photohouse E-board meeting. After that I will need to get started on packing[While watching the Olympics, of course]. My goal is to get my drawers and bookshelf cleared out. And maybe make it so I can see my floor. and pack up Ron, Fred and Bill. Basically get as much done as possible since I will be back in Syracuse for the weekend, and Sunday night we're having a last-day-as-roomies party[of the alcoholic variety~].

Still on page 3 of Deep Economy. >__>;; So freaking boring. I'm going to skip around and see if I can find anything interesting. I have no plans of reading the whole thing though. And I may have something to dress up as! Jamie is going as Ash from Evil Dead: the Musical, and I might dress up as a zombie. Whoo.

Time to do work at work.

EDIT PS: WTF IS THIS??? No HBP until July because of freaking MONEY = TOTAL FAILURE. This means I can't go see it with my college crew because everyone will have freaking graduated. UGH.

Another hilarious day at the SYEP program. We went to the senior citizen center to drop off the 3 computers we were donating. Some of the old people were adorable, and some were just snappy XD; The kids ended up playing a round of bingo with them, and it was funny watching them interact. Then in the afternoon we found out why we haven't gotten a response back in 3 weeks about our T-shirt orders- the guy who does it died! It was horrible, but the way Denise told us had both Monique and I rolling. I am really going to miss hanging out with Denise and Monique- we have the best time together. And I'll miss Mary, our crazy secretary. She offered to hop on the bus with psycho!bus driver and smack him XD; Two more days left, *sigh*

Got a phone call from Jamie today, he's back in the Roch! But since I'm stuck at work til 11 I can't call him back. Maybe I'll drag him to the liquor store with me tomorrow, since Ryan and Nolan can't go. Hmm. Or we can brainstorm on dress-up for Musical-ness, because I have less than 7 days to pull that together. *cough*

Jess and Katie are at a Maroon 5 concert right now in Saratoga. I am super jealous. Remember how I did the text messages at the Police concert? Well I sent a message for them even though I'm not there XD;

Going home again this weekend for my brother's graduation party on Sunday. Before that, I'm making Stacie watch Torchwood on Friday. She seems interested in it, which is a plus. Then we'll probably play massive amounts of Guitar Hero. whoo! I need to not forget to get my car inspected this weekend. Or my oil changed. I probably will forget anyway.

My Time Lord Name is Cheengoldildenordrabelrodkimcheverbel.
Take The Time Lord Name Generator today!

Time to try to get the Olympics streaming. Whoo! Only 3 hours of work left...

EDIT: Grrr they won't live-stream swimming. LAME NBC, LAME. Especially because I'm missing both of Phelp's swims and a chunk of Women's gymnastics. Worst day to work late evarrr. And no one's in the library so there's no point in even being here -__-

EDIT 2: There hasn't been anyone in the library for the past 3 hours. I spent the past 1/2 hour trying to trick the CBC into thinking I'm Canadian using a proxy, but no such luck. Why does Canada get a live feed and America doesn't? I hate you, NBC.

Somehow I managed a B in my online class? I guess I forgot to figure in project 3. I'll take it :D

Work was pretty chill today. We ended up watching "The Great Debaters". 3 days left! Tomorrow we're donating the computers and doing some more prep for the ceremony on Thursday.

Went to Moe's and saw Ironman with AGG after work. Probably our last outing of the Summer. Bucky and Ryan will be back soon, and we will be T-BAGG in it's full glory again. :D

One week left in the batcave. I've enjoyed living in an apartment, but I'm ready to go back to the dorms. I'll miss Jess and my crazy random roommate-bonding moments. <3Weasley.

Tomorrow I'm working 8:30am-3pm, 4pm-11pm. >__O I'll be putting some stuff to watch on my jump drive to keep me entertained[and I'll be streaming the Olympics, of course]. And I still have that pesky manual to finish this week... yeah. Wish me luck.

This weekend was pretty chill. Got into Syracuse around 5, hung out with the family and watched the Olympics opening ceremony.

Saturday I went to visit Grandma, Aunt Jo and Uncle Dave. Found out some exciting news- my Dad's side of the family had a massive row like 4-5 years ago but recently have patched things up; one thing I really missed was when we used to do homemade sausage. Well DJ informed me we will be doing it in February! he's dubbed it The Valentine's Day Grosso Sausage Massacre. He's making T-shirts, haha. I'M SO EXCITED. We also discussed our plans for the open bar at Shelly's wedding. ;)

Then I spent most of my time doing stuff for my online class. Boring.

yadda yadda )

So I bought another external hard drive, and he needs a name. He is the newer WD mybook, so he looks like Ron. George, Percy, and obviously Fred and Ron are taken[narrows it down]. I think it's a guy, so Molly and Ginny are out[narrows it down]. That leaves Charlie, Bill and Arthur. I'd like to stick to the Weasley children, so no Arthur[narrows it down]. SO, WHICH NAME?

poll time! Because I should use my paid account for something... )

At work in VIA, fun times. Avoiding making the training manual that I have to turn in to my supe tomorrow. Doooom. To the person using the microfilm- go away so I can listen to the Torchwood soundtrack!

I just realized I'm missing the Hockey season opener against Clarkson and the St. Lawrence game at Blue Cross for the wedding too. ARGHHDKFJSLDKFJDSFKJSDF BALLS. Well that just killed my good day. Not that hockey is more important than being in my beloved cousin's wedding, but... HOCKEY. :___: If the reception isn't too late, I might be able to make it back for the St. Lawrence game. Maybe. I don't know how all this wedding crap works, I haven't been to one since I was little. And I'm actually IN the wedding so it's a little different. All these silly bridesmaid responsibilities.

Going home for the weekend tomorrow after my meeting with Gina at 2. I'm planning to have the car packed and ready to go by the time I go to work at 10am[I'm working 10-1 for Kristi], but we'll see how that pans out. As in it probably won't and I'll leave late. Oh well.

My online class is over this Sunday, excitement. I have to post a couple discussions, create some slides for a group powerpoint and take my final Sunday at 8pm. I should probably actually study for that... *cough*

I guess I should actually do work now at work. bleh.

My inbox has never seen such action. I have emails shooting around for both jobs, it's insane. There's only a week and a half left of the SYEP program, so we're going a little crazy trying to get everything together for the final luncheon thing. Then I have to set up schedules and such for VIA for break week, orientation week and get an idea of how many hours people want for fall[in case we need to hire more people]. Plus extended hours during summer finals week and the fact that Kristi is getting her wisdom teeth out so we have to scramble to cover her shifts[she works 38 hours of the 68 hour schedule, I shit you not].

Last night was fun though... Jess and I spent an hour or so assembling the futon she snagged from Allison, and were silly throughout. We were watching 'My Fair Lady', and then 'Sweeney Todd'. Soon it was 9pm and time to go to Who-Rah! I think the Dalek cake was a success; at least it was mostly gone by the time we left. Jess randomly felt like watching Doctor Who around 11pm. We popped in the DVD I bought last week and watched a bit of 'The Daleks' Master Plan'. Then we had the random urge to watch Sailor Moon? XD; I blame our slight intoxication. So we watched a couple random episodes of that. Most of the time was spent making fun of the Doom Tree. *cough*

Life is picking up with Summer stuff coming to an end/Fall stuff starting up. Funtimes are ahead.

During the morning session at work today, I randomly decided to read the summary for the 4th Twilight book that came out this past weekend. All I can say is ROFLMAO. I was almost in tears crying in the back row over how hilariously bad it was XD A couple of the students like Twilight though, so in the afternoon session we got into a bit of a play fight over it. They were saying Harry Potter is worse than Twilight. They kept making wand-swishing motions at me from across the room, and I kept doing *sparkle* motions back. It was easily the best day at work ever.

Then I came home and frosted my Dalek cake, since we're watching 1x06 'Dalek' at Who-Rah[Official name for Monday Who] tonight.

Another fun, amazing weekend to add to the summer of awesome :D Of course this is probably the last, because I don't have much planned for the next couple ones coming up. Doing necessary stuff like Dress fittings and getting my car inspected and packing all my crap up to move. Fun times.

Anyways, my weekend:
Friday: Elvis Costello and the Police! )

Saturday: the race track, shopping, and a little Saturday Night Fever. )

Sunday was pretty mellow. We woke up, had yummy breakfast at the Blue Ribbon, then peaced out. When I got home I checked my piling email, and then tried to catch up with my LJ communities. Still not done XD;;

Now Jess and I are going on a Wegmans run, because I need supplies to bake a Dalek cake for Who Monday tomorrow!

One year ago today I sat in this very chair at work and watched my first episode of Doctor Who. It was 1x01 Rose; I watched it on the now defunct tvlinks.co.uk. Look how my obsession has grown... and spread! All thanks to [info]ohnotheydidnt, and the fact David Tennant played Barty Crouch Jr. in GoF. XD;;

Work today was pretty boring. More computer stuff in the morning; they installed drivers and service pack 3. Had to get take-out Gracie's because Professor Hill ran over time a bit and we had mock interviews at noon. The interviews went well, most of the students got good feedback. Then we didn't really have anything planned, so the students chilled around while Monique and I checked journals and did other random stuff. Only 2 more weeks to go!

I can't believe July is over already. Orientation starts up in only 18 days D: I kind of need to make an appointment with my academic adviser to work out some stuff. Ahhh being a senior. I don't want to join the real world yet.

ELVIS COSTELLO AND THE POLICE TOMORROW! :D

I found a Doctor Who DVD at Target for $3 XD It has 3 serials from the first Doctor. 'The Crusade', 'The Dalek's Master Plan' and 'The Tenth Planet'. I watched a bit of 'the Dalek's Master Plan' and it was amusing. Yay for random finds!

Before that I went out to eat with AGG. Nolan and I decided Ryan needed to check out The King and I, so that is where we went. Our waiter was a little speshul, but we had a good time.

I forgot to mention I attended Monday Who this week. I always mean to go and get wrapped up in something else! We watched 1x03 The Unquiet Dead and 1x04 Aliens of London. :)

Tomorrow is quite busy with work at both jobs, and then I have a meeting at 8pm online for Photohouse eboard stuff. Theeen I need to get my work done for my online class so I can fully enjoy my weekend in the capital region. :D

Writer's Block: In the Event of a Zombie Emergency

Are you prepared for a zombie outbreak, or are you just going to wing it?

View other answers

ummm... who doesn't have a zombie contingency plan? My [IT] friends and I have actually had several discussions on the topic. XD

I need to come up with a costume from a musical for Orientation. I listed all the musicals I love, but have no idea what to do. I think I need to enlist the help of one Jessica Scott, shopper extraordinaire. I have 20 days to pull this together. lulz.

Just found out Jason Mraz added US dates to his tour, but the closest cities are Scranton[3.5 hrs] and Toronto[2.75 hrs]. And both are on a WEDNESDAY. I have class until 6. *weeps*

I find it kind of hilarious Simon Lee got arrested. He was such a bitch on Maria! Karma maybe? Also: Elicia is annoying, did not want her to win. Oh well. I read in Attitude magazine that they want John to go to Australia to do another round of "Joseph." I approve.

Random of the day: When I pulled into RIT, President Destler rode past me on a bike. I was amused, because I don't think that's something Al Simone would have done. He seems like a pretty chill dude.

Also: this amuses the crap out of me. Doctor Who/Dr. Horrible crossovers ftw. *pets [info]ihasafreezeray*

ALSO ALSO: The new HP trailer is really creepy, but I'm uber excited. :D
