I hope everyone had a great Christmas! And if you don't celebrate, I hope you had a happy day anyway :)

My only response to the Downton Abbey Christmas special:

It was basically perfection. Plus the fact I BOUGHT MY PLANE TICKET/HOTEL FOR COLORADO right before, I'm a flaily mess right now.

The Merlin finale was a little disappointing in the-one-thing-I-really-want-to-happen not happening, but was overall satisfactory. Bradley and Colin were looking fiiiiiiiiiine And the Doctor Who Christmas Special was just right amount of cheesy. Matt Smith + children always equates to wonderful. I wish it [SPOILER: had more Bill Bailey and co though, they were amusing].

PS World Juniors start tomorrow! The US plays Denmark at 8pm EST. You can watch on the NHL network! /not that anyone cares

My Air Force tickets came in the mail today, and I ordered our Canucks tickets. Now I just need to get my flight and the hotel next week, and the Colorado trip is set!

Yeah, I just kind of dropped off the planet there... I still have a meme question or two to do, so I will be finishing that. The TARDIS did pass inspection, and made a successful trip to CT for a pair of Uconn games. In other non surprising news, I'm way behind on everything. The only Christmas present I've purchased is Stef's mom's. Womp womp.

ALSO: Watch 24/7. STAT. Even if you have just a passing interest in hockey, it's amazing.

BE HAPPEH.

I couldn't sleep last night, and I'm spending most of the day with my Grandma while she gets chemo. Caffeine will be my best friend.

ONE WEEK UNTIL BRICK CITY. I can't wait to see everyone, especially Everett. Though I feel like it might get crazy with everyone wanting a piece of him. Stef thinks he's staying with her, and Jen A thinks he's staying with her. I'm expecting the Drama Llama to make a visit.

ALDS and the start of the NHL season )

Sabres season starts at 1pm today, but I will be at the hospital. :( I'm bringing my netbook, so hopefully I can find a stream. I'm also DVRing it to cover my bases. I have 6 Sabres on my fantasy team, they better do well!

ALSO: RIT starts the regular season tomorrow vs Niagara. They haven't beaten them in 13 years(they didn't face them for 12 of them, but still). They're the only AHA team RIT didn't beat last year. Time to remedy this, tbh. It should be easier with Zanette and Haczyk gone. I can't go to the game, but I lucked out that it will be on TV here. :D Usually Cornell gets preference, but the ECAC starts their schedule late.

-AMERICAN HERO (and Rochester native) Abby Wambach will be dropping the puck at Brick City Homecoming!

-Since I don't have enough things going on, I volunteered to run the [info]kestrolls's fantasy hockey league. Thus the #cluelesscommissioner hashtag was created, because I have no idea what I'm doing. :D

fantasy hockey )

-Hockey season starts tomorrow, and the Yankees play game 5, so it should be good!

! He played so well yesterday. Not to forget his fellow RIT bro Pinizzotto, with two assists. Sturm looked really good, Eddie Lack was a brick wall, Polacek made an awesome save on a breakaway(no broken faces though) and Ballard looked solid!

The Sabres won against the Habs tonight, but they had most of their regulars and the Habs were mostly bbs. Oh. Well, a win's a win. I didn't get to watch because I was under the impression it was only on the radio. I found a french stream with like 2 minutes left in the 3rd. Boo.

And the Yankees locked up the AL East tonight! I love that the win came off a 2 run hit by Jorge ♥

And now I'm going to go finish reading the football primer [info]cazzwell wrote, because she completes me.

I am so upset right now. It's been a sad Summer for the hockey world with the deaths of Derek Boogaard, Rick Rypien and Wade Belak. And now a plane crash has wiped out an entire KHL team(plus staff and some prospects).

"Though it occurred thousands of miles away from our home arenas, this tragedy represents a catastrophic loss to the hockey world- including the NHL family, which lost so many fathers, sons, teammates and friends who at one time excelled in our League. Our deepest condolences go to the families and loved ones of all who perished." - NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman

Alexander Galimov and a flight attendant survived... Galimov had 80% of his body burned and the doctors were saying he probably won't make it(and there's been conflicting reports he's already died). I can't even imagine what the mental toll of surviving such a tragedy would be, not even including adding the physical aspects of dealing with burns like that.

I've been wanting October to come faster for more hockey, but I also want it so this Summer of death can be over :(
